Government gives companies more time to pay job insurance premiums

The government has extended the deadline for employers to pay unemployment insurance premiums to late 2009 in consideration of the financial difficulties they face.

The decision to put off the original deadline of June 30 was made at a regular meeting of the Government held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 23 and 24.

Companies have to pay premiums for around six million workers.

The government has also given foreign enterprises until the second half of the year to pay the labor union fees on behalf of their workers.
