Vietnam's central bank set the dollar's exchange rate lower at VND16,973 Monday.
The state-owned Vietcombank sold lower at VND17,482, compared with VND17,484 Friday.
Gold shops sold higher at VND17,500, compared with VND17,480 Friday.
Dealers said they expect the exchange rate to rise this week, after the Ministry of Trade and Industry said late last week that trade deficit is expected to widen 9.7% to $19.2 billion this year.
"The rate will also rise on the government's policy to encourage exports and control imports this year," a trader said. (Dow Jones)
