As many as 100 travel agencies providing overseas tourism services were established in Viet Nam in 2007, bringing the total number of businesses offering this services in the Southeast Asian country to 605.
Of which, 157 are joint-stock enterprises, 87 are State-owned enterprises and 12 are joint-ventures.
The Ho Chi Minh City-based Saigon Tourism Corporation and the Viet Nam Tourism-Ha Noi Joint Stock Company are among the top ten enterprises operating in this lucrative industry.
Apart from travel agencies that provide out out-bound service, the year 2007 also witnessed considerable growth of domestic tourism companies nationwide.
Last year, Viet Nam welcomed 4.2 million international holidaymakers and 19.3 domestic tourists. (VNA)
