The southernmost province of Kien Giang lured in more than 3.4 million tourists in 2008, earning a total revenue of VND373.7 billion (US$21.9 million). This represents a 3.4% increase against a year ago.
Foreign visitors numbered about 85,000 of all the tourists travelling to Kien Giang.
The province is building and upgrading many key tourist areas like Phu Quoc, Ha Tien, Kien Luong, Hon Dat and U Minh Thuong.
Kien Giang continues to equitise tourism companies to mobilise human resources and facilities to develop the provincial tourism sector.
