Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has recently approved the proposal from Tan Mai Paper Joint-Stock Company to invest in a pulp and paper plant.
According to the project documents, the plant is located in Poko commune, Dakto district, Kon Tum province.
Under the Prime Minister’s instruction, the company is responsible for paying back all capital that the Vietnam Paper Corporation has invested in the project so far.
Earlier, the corporation, which was signed to invest in a project to erect a pulp and paper plant and to plant material forests in Kon Tum Province, has failed to realize the project to erect a pulp and paper plant.
However, the Viet Nam Paper Corporation is entrusted to continue to manage and take care of 17,000 ha of material forests in the locality that it had earlier invested in.
The forests are expected to supply sufficient material for the pulp and paper plant when it is put into operation.
It is also requested to settle the loan that it borrowed from the Viet Nam Development Bank under the contract signed by the two bodies. (DDDN)
