Korea releases translation of Vietnamese economic laws for investors.

The Foreign Ministry said Monday January 7 (January 7) it issued a Korean translation of Vietnamese economic laws for Korean firms seeking business in the Southeast Asian country. The move reflects growing economic ties between the two nations, which established diplomatic relations in 1992 nearly two decades after Seoul dispatched troops to help the US military operation in Vietnam.

Korea topped the list of foreign investors in Vietnam for the second consecutive year in 2007, with 403 projects capitalised at a record of nearly US$4.2 billion, according to official data.

The six volumes of legal codes translated into Korean cover Vietnam's laws on intellectual property, real estate, construction, stock markets, housing, and information and technology.

"The translated version will be distributed to major government agencies, economic organisations, companies and diplomatic missions abroad, and it is expected to provide a lot of help to Korean firms hoping to do business in Vietnam," the Foreign Ministry said. (Korea.net)
